Calling all Mommies

As Devin and I get ready for our little guy to come, which is not for another 4 months, I have so many questions. When I get bored which happens alot in Springfield, I jump on the internet and start searching for baby stuff like nursery ideas, cribs, furniture, car seats, strollers, and baby clothes. Well I am so confused when it comes to the best car seats and strollers, so that is where I need your help. What is your favorite brand of car seats and strollers and why? Please Please Please help me out with your imput, I would greatly appreciate it.

Ok so I know we've only met once and don't really know each other but my husband Jeremy and I used to work with Devin. Don't think I am a stalker. Anyways we just had a little boy 6 months ago and I absolutely love chicco they are the best car seats and strollers (the travel system) they are a little more on the more expensive end of things but they are less than Britax. Britax I hear though are supposed to be the best for crashes but the are over $300 just for the car seat so that's up to you. I am obsessed with baby products I have bought a ton and If you have more questions feel free to ask. I have read and tested out a lot of different products. Good Luck

I can tell you what not to get. I have a Graco snugride infant carrier which has been fine except that it makes my babies so hot. The material doesn't breathe at all. I take my baby out and his head and back are so sweaty and it was the same with Trey. I haven't tried anything else but I'm with Janelle. I've heard great things about Chicco. When it comes to strollers I would go with the lightest possible. I have a Graco metro light stroller and I absolutely love it. If you have any other ?s about baby products let me know!

Oh, and this is for the future (and for Janelle) but when you buy a car seat for your 1 year old get a Britax. They are quite expensive but well worth it.

And please do call next time you are in town. I'd love to go boy shopping with you!

I have had a peg carseat and stroller and a graco carseat. I hated the peg! I still have the stroller and it is aweful!!! I have done a lot of research for our next kid (this is not an announcement) and I have decided that the chico carseats and strollers and the bomb! I have a few friends that have them and they love them. So, hope this helps!

oh yeah. When your kids get older Britax is totally the way to go. They are a little more expensive but it is worth the $$. They are great!w

Kaci,
Hey how are you? It is Sara Samuelson. I know this is so random. I got on your blog through Emily's. Congrats by the way. Having a baby is so exciting and so overwhelming when it comes to things to buy. I did a lot of research. I am actually having my second baby in 6 weeks.

Ok back to the baby gear. I am a HUGE fan of Britax. I have the infant companion and the roundabout. They are both wonderful and super safe. Worth every penny!! The only negative thing about the infant carseat, is that it is a little on the heavy side when it comes to carrying it around, but I am using it again with the 2nd baby because it is worth it knowing how safe your baby is. It also has a bar on the base that no other brand has and a fabulous head support. I had people asking me where I got it all the time. So worth it! I also hear Maxi Cosi...which is a new line... is really great as well and they have really neat colors.

Stroller: I have the Britax Vigor. It is now being discontinued because it is heavy and bulky, but I love it because you can use it on any ground or surface and it is smooth. Also the chair comes off and you snap your care seat onto the frame. I LOVED that when my little girl was a baby. It was so convenient. You can still buy the stroller online.

And before you buy what you have decided to buy...google the product because I have learned you can always find it on sale somewhere and in some cases you do not have to pay taxes or shipping.

I am sorry this is a novel, but just wanted to tell you my thoughts. Good luck with everything! Oh and the companion is around $190. But so worth it!

Hey this is Devrie. Sorry this is random, but I saw your blog through Angela's. Congrats on the baby...very exciting. We have an 11 month old and we love Britax. Yes, they are more expensive (because they are made by BMW), but it's definitely worth it. Our baby carrier still looks brand new, most of the other ones I see look very worn down by 6 months. Anyway, good luck. Picking out baby stuff is the best.

I feel your pain...baby gear is the worst because you want to get the best and the safest things, but trying to figure it all out is crazy. Just narrow everything down to like 3 different things and then as lame as this sounds look up the consumer reports on them. If that is too much work just ask around to the different mommies. As long as you get the newer versions of strollers and carseats, you can't really go wrong. Hope this helps. Can't wait to see you in a week!

Well, I did it wrong, but this girl in my ward totally did it right. I didn't get a jogging stroller and am now investing in one. But this girl in my ward got a really nice jogging stroller, a BOB and it has an attachment that you can put your car seat in too. It is soo nice. Pretty expensive, but if you are considering a jogging stroller at all, I would look into this so you don't end up having a bunch of strollers. She loves hers and I'll admit I am jealous.

Well if you can afford it go with Britex I have the car seat and love it. I also have the Graco travel delux sustem adn that included the stroller and car seat for when she was younger. I like the stroller a lot. I would get a jogger too though. They are just not as bumpy for the babe.

I left a message on your phone. I live in Murray and my zip code is 84107. they are townhomes in a development called Inverness Square. They were built like a year and a half ago. I checked on Craigslist and on KSL Classifieds and I have seen like three or four up for rent. And the crappy renter that lived next door to me just moved out, so. . . It is kinda by the Costco in Murray. Most of the people that live there are around our age which makes it fun. Yes, I absolutely love my ward! If you are in town this weekend, call me and I can find out information or you can peak at mine if you are really interested.

I should try the air chair. You've inspired me :) No, Steve is not a brother. He is Adams friend. He's kinda like a brother though since they are always together.

Hey kaci! i LOVE looking for baby things and reviewing them, so i will give you what i've found. Peg perego is one of my favorite brands because they are rated very high for durability, especially wheels (which can crap out on cheaper strollers really easily). also, i have a Bertini stroller that has 12 inch air tires, and that is GREAT for walks, its like a buggie sort of, but i like Bumbleride better i think (its very similar to y bertini). so look up Bumbleride Queen B stroller.Maclaren are GREAT for compact strollers.. i think babierusu has it, or just google it. for car seats, i am in the market for an infant one right now, i think gona go for the chicco 30 keyfit, because it goes up to 30 lbs instead of 22 in. for andrew we had the babytrend flex loc, but it had a weird back that was really uncomfortable. don't get that one...andy has an Evenflo car seat that is only at Babies R Us now, and i love it, its like $150, so half the price of britax, but its the on the same frame as the Britax Marathon. i really like his now. Check pricegrabber for anything you buy, i found andys crib there for WAY less than babies r us. Hmm. i will also say i do not like graco. its everywhere, and they don't in my opinion make that great of products...i like fisher price...hopefully this helps! good luck! oh- Check albeebaby.com for anything you are looking for, its a great site for baby gear !!

There are so many fun people out there and we are so glad we made the move. Come join us! Also, congrats on the baby boy! That's awesome!

Hey Kaci! Still pretty hot in Springville? I love to buy kids' things too, and having four children, I've had a lot of strollers and carseats. Right now the three strollers I use all the time are: a lightweight Chicco umbrella, a Peg-Perego that I love because it reclines all the way and is very light and comfy for the baby, and my new one is a Baby Jogger double. The baby jogger isn't actually a jogging stroller, but it's very light and super easy to maneuver. They come in singles too of course. My favorite car seats are Britax, and you can actually use them way before the baby turns 1. If you get a convertible car seat, you can actually use it from the time the baby is born. The only problem would be if you want to take the car seat out of the car with you, the convertible wouldn't wok because it's so heavy. Still, my baby (now 20 months!) has been in the Britx since she was 6 months, and by the time she turned 1, I only turned it to face forward, and that was it.
You can go to the store and try the strollers there, see how they collapse, how heavy they are and how much store they have. One of the girls got a Baby Jogger at Baby News there in Springville. You might want to go there to check it out.
Good luck!

So I don't know if anyone else has mentioned these brands to you, but I have fallen in love with both and can't wait to get mine!!! The car seat which specifically goes with the stroller is a maxi cosi. It's a little on the heavy side but so durable looking. The best part is that the material inside is super soft and comfortable for the baby (so i've heard from the people i've talked to). The stroller is a Quinny. The look of it is sort of contemporary so you may or may not like that style. Walking around with it compared to other strollers I walk with, it definitely wins. It's super sturdy and does not wobble a bit. It comes with three wheels instead of four which I REALLY like. The front swivel wheel makes it easier to get around in my opinion. Go to rightstart.com to get all the details on it. And of course feel free to ask me any questions. I think I should stop because my comment is going to take up your entire page!! Good luck with picking one out!!
